What to Know Before Getting Permanent Makeup

Who Can Get Permanent Makeup? Please Read Before Your Appointment

Anyone with the following conditions should NOT get Permanent Makeup

  • Currently pregnant
  • Have cancer and are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • Steroid medication and Prednisone (must be off for at least 2 months)
  • Has an open wound in the area
  • Has aged skin that is extremely thin or severely wrinkled
  • Has a bacterial or viral infection

Please check the following with your doctor before having a permanent makeup procedure:

  • Have diabetes and are under doctor care
  • Have been in remission for cancer for 1 year
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Using blood thinning medications
  • Have seborrheic dermatitis

Must be avoided 4 weeks before the permanent makeup procedure:

  • Botox
  • Fillers
  • Chemical Peels
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Laser Treatments

Must be avoided 1 week before the permanent makeup procedure:

  • All blood thinners- Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, Aspirin, Excedrin, Warfarin, Coumadin, Oil Supplements such as Fish oil, Vitamin E Oil, Primrose Oil or other blood thinning medications
  • Antibiotics, Iron supplements, magnesium
  • Retinol- Retin-A, and any strong skincare products
  • Any mood-altering drugs

Please let us know if you have any of the following conditions before scheduling your appointment:

  • Medical conditions
  • Cold sores, fever blisters, herpes
  • Recent surgery in the area to be tattooed
  • Keloid easily
  • Hepatitis or liver disease
  • Skin disorders
  • Allergies
  • You easily bleed or have trouble clotting

Day of your procedure:

  • Please eat something 20-30 minutes before your appointment
  • Avoid any form of caffeine 2-3 hours before your appointment. It can heighten your sensitivity
  • If you bruise easily, take Arnica before your procedure and after. It’s available in most health food stores
  • If you are required to take antibiotics before dental procedures, please follow the same instructions from your doctor before your procedure
  • Do not workout 24 hours before or after your procedure
  • Do not consume alcohol 24 hours before your procedure
  • Do not wear makeup

Brows- Microblading, Powder Brows, Combo Brows:

  • You may wear makeup on your brows, styled in the way that you would like them if you wish

Eyeliner- please let us know if you have any of the following conditions before scheduling your appointment:

  • Chronically dry eyes are not suitable candidates for this procedure
  • Please discontinue use of all lash growth serums at least 1 month prior to your procedure. This can cause the pigment to migrate into undesired areas.
  • Please do NOT wear contact lenses the day of your procedure

Lip blush- please let us know if you have any of the following conditions before scheduling your appointment:

  • Fever blisters, cold sores, herpes- will need to start taking medication before the procedure. May not have an outbreak when the procedure is done.
  • Chronically dry lips will need a note from your doctor, can cause the pigment not to stay
