How Do I Communicate With My Massage Therapist?
When you arrive for your massage appointment, you’ll be speaking with the staff to confirm your appointment, talk about any concerns or questions you may have, and discuss the service itself. However, your interaction with your therapist during your appointment will be a little different.
Let’s talk about how to communicate with your massage therapist during your appointment.
Is There Communication Etiquette For The Massage Table?
There IS communication etiquette for the massage table! Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Your massage therapist isn’t your doctor, but they are working with your body – so while you don’t need to give them your entire medical history, you will need to answer some basic questions. The answers will help your massage therapist best serve your needs. Just be aware that the information you give your therapist is meant to keep you safe, so be honest.
- No professional massage therapist will be offended by your telling them the pressure is too much; they will be grateful that you spoke up! Adjusting pressure to your comfort helps them to ensure you have the best experience possible, which is their top priority. Also, be sure to tell your therapist If something is hurting or you have an injury.
- It is okay to chat with your therapist during your massage and ask specific questions about what your therapist is doing. Your therapist enjoys their profession and will be happy to have the opportunity to discuss it with you. The information they share may begin a positive conversation about your journey towards health and wellness.
What Are The Policies Urban Oasis Has In Place For Spa Appointments?
At Urban Oasis, your comfort and safety are our highest priorities. With that in mind, we have established policies we ask our staff and clients to follow to ensure the best spa experience possible for everyone!
A few of these policies are:
- Unattended children. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the spa unattended.
- Please arrive 15 minutes early. Please arrive for your spa appointment earlier than scheduled so you can unwind and clear your mind before beginning your treatment.
- Please communicate! Let us know if the pressure is okay or if the water is too hot or cold. We want to know if you are comfortable! There is no way for us to understand how your experience is going if you don’t tell us. If there is anything we can do to make your spa experience more pleasurable, don’t be afraid to let us know.
- Drink plenty of water. A spa treatment often releases toxins from the body, so drink plenty of water before and after your treatment to keep yourself adequately hydrated.
- No digital devices. As a common courtesy to other guests at the spa, please do not speak on your cell phone and turn off any mobile devices during your visit.
